Here Sheepie, Sheepie

Guess, just guess the size of this sheep/lamb.

#Amigurumiobsessed is putting it mildly. I have hunted and hunted on Pinterest for the ‘perfect’ sheep for a nativity group I am making, but the patterns, when available, are either too large to fit the perspective of the group or poorly written, or show a photo of a perfectly wonderful sheep, but the pattern doesn’t match the photo.

Rhino principle to the rescue!

Just ‘DO IT YOURSELF’ it screams. So, here you go.

Size 8 thread beige and cream colors and size .75 hook, tapestry needle, fiber filling or cotton

Head

With beige thread, Magic Circle, sc 6, increase to 12. Make 3 sc rows of 12, decrease to 6, leave long tail and stuff with filling, pins

Cap–slp st to close and ch 1 at the end of each round

With white thread, Magic Circle, sc 6; increase to 12;

Bobble st into each sc.(12 bobbles)

Sc between each bobble-12 sts. Sc 12.

Increase to 18,  *Bobble st into same st, sc *repeat to end of row, (9 bobbles and 9 sc)

Se 2 between each bobble.(18 sc). Sc 18. Decrease to 12, sc 12, leave long tail.

Assembly

Thread needle with tail of beige head and Insert through cap, pulling tight. (I weave through a couple of sts to secure to cap–these can be removed when finished with work) Thread cap tail, and pull the sc row down over the head then sew in place.

Body

With white thread, Magic Circle, sc 6; increase to 12;

Sc 18.

Increase to 24. *Bobble st into same st, sc *repeat to end of row. (24 bobbles and 24 sc) Sc 24 sc.

Decrease to 18, 12, stuff with filling, decrease to 6, leave long tail to weave closed. This is the tail end.

Attaching head to body

Turn the body side ways, and using a pin, find the best location for the head to be sewn onto the top of the body toward the front (chest) side.

Tail

With beige, leaving a long tail, ch 4, bobble st into the 4th ch from hook or make a popcorn, ch 1, slp st into the same st then pull tail through st. Cut thread and pin and sew to upper part of the tail end of the body.

I didn’t add any legs. After all, this sheep is not quite 3cm (1.1811 inches) tall.
