It all began when my mother asked for TEN…yes, 10 additional Amigurumi ornaments for Christmas.
I showed my mother a couple of my Amigurumi ornaments and she immediately asked for whom I was making them. I told her and she said, “but she doesn’t really like handmade things. I think you should make some for me. In fact, I’ll need 10 because you’ve already given me an Angel.
and a Christmas tree.Alrighty then, I had on hand an Eiffel Tower
the French Maid,
a Harlequin
and a Mouse
….I think I’ll add a Christmasy accent to the mouse…so, I am well ahead with eight Saturday’s remaining before Christmas….
Continuing the creation….
Ms Claus
Santa
An Oregon Angel
and two more remaining….but, I’m not sure what to make this week! Pinterest to the rescue!
Gnome
Rudolph
She’ll need to receive them early to enjoy them on her tree for the holidays…after all, she IS 95 years old!
Back to Liberty
I came across a Lady Liberty on Pinterest and found the pattern here for a larger size Amigurumi figure.
Suffering from Rhino Principle (Let me remind you once again: Employ “The Rhino Principle” when you face a difficult project or an obstacle that prevents you from reaching your goal. This challenge may arise in your business, career, health, or relationships. Within each of us is the capacity to focus with a level of intensity that far exceeds what we believe is possible.), I decided to try my hand at making a Lady Liberty, ornament size 6″ using Lion Brand BonBon’s yarn on hand. Luckily I had 3 skeins of the same color because a couple of years ago I’d purchased three packages of the ‘Beach’.
BTW: Should you decide to make a 6″ amigurumi style ornament, each BonBon’s skein is 28 yards=84 yards using a size 1.75 mm hook and one of those styrofoam 2.75″ forms.
This one is for Mama.
Liberty Enlightening the World
but, after completing, I decided to do a little digging and guess what I found out that no one ever mentioned in school! After discovering this information, I began humming My Country ‘Tis of Thee….. sheer inspiration!
….and you know what that means? It means I had to ‘refine’ my pattern to include the ‘facts’ about her. Here’s what I came up with and I’m pretty happy with the end result.
