Happy New Year Paris Letters Project

Secret Garden Journal

Twenty years ago I kept a journal detailing the journey I took to the world of cancer, treatment decisions and recovery. While still in recovery from treatment and very unhappy, I locked then wrapped the journal in plain brown paper and mailed it to Paris with no return address.

I planned on the journal arriving in Paris and after a short stint on a shelf it would be ‘going up in smoke’ in what I imagined to be a symbolic funeral pyre. I trusted the ashes would blow away…far, far away.

Miracles

Rekindling my passion driven spirit took some deep soul work. For the longest time I felt my spirit had suffered a slow leak that would never be stemmed before I disappeared. It took sixteen years for me to come to the realisation that the cancer journey took me through extraordinary self-discovery and launching Hide A Heart.

Within that time I also decided that when I die, I want my ashes mixed with glitter. Why? Have you ever tried to vacuum up glitter successfully? I figure if the ashes are mixed with enough glitter, when I’m set free to blow across the world, I’ll continue to twinkle somewhere on the earth practically forever!

Happy New Year

The cancer journey definitely colored my humor black at times, but today the color of my humor isturquoise. I decided to change the color of my humor because of reading a post on the Kind Over Matter blog titled, How Much Money Does It Take To Quit Your Job?”  Amanda featured Janice MacLeod and my humor morphed into turquoise.

As it turns out, turquoise is the color of opening communication and thought, so before another day goes by, subscribe to The Paris Letters Project to send love notes to yourself and morph into 2013 New Year Delight!

Painted Letters
“After 110 years of writing junk mail in advertising, I devised an exit strategy to finance my own sabbatical. My Shawshank Redemption, if you will. When I met my financial goal, I skipped town and traveled with nothing more than my suitcase and a small set of watercolors. Along the way, I painted letters about my travels and mailed them to friends. Enamored with this unique medium, I opened an online shop. Each month I create one painted letter, copy it, personalize it and mail it to hundreds of subscribers who are hungry for fun mail.”

For Moi, Paris Is Perfect

I think Paris is the most intriguing city. Paris has served as the lynch pin background for many a novel and movie. The very mention of Paris evokes romance and elegant fashion, food and frivolity. I am so enamoured with Paris and things Frenchie, I’m thinking of purchasing one of those Rosetta Stone lessons to learn the French language. No wonder The Paris Letters Project appeals to me so strongly.
